The intimate feel of Penzance Harbour is maintained throughout the Festival,
crews can relax or join in with the main Golowan
Festival as much as they choose. In The Harbour 0ver the years
PILGRIM Brixham trawler built in 1895 and owned by Bill Wakeham.From
1895 to 1927 Pilgrim fished out of Brixham and the Faroes. She was sold to new
owners in Sweden in 1912 and converted to a private yacht in 1961. In June1999
she was sailed back to Brixham for restoration and preservation by the Pilgrim
Preservation Trust. GAMRIE BAY owned by Phil Brooke-Little a 1959
larch on oak Scottish trawler that fished from Newlyn for over 20 years.
HAPPY RETURN the Mounts Bay Lugger Associations 1926 Porthleven built
fishing vessel recently relaunched after a major refit - Feasible

On
the quayside there will be various exhibits and displays including the 40+
Fishing Association, the National Coastwatch Institution putting the eyes
back on the coast,the National Lobster Hatchery, the Duchy Fish Quota Company
and a demonstration of the construction of traditional Newfoundland dories. At
the Model Boating Pool at Wherrytown on Sunday 28th June
A day of racing metre yachts and electric boats and displays of scratch built
models Round the poolside will be an exhibition of model boats from
all over the west country organized by Penzance Model Boat Club. (phone 01736
369291) Musicians & Performers just turn up unexpectedly and
a performance occurs, but it is only on Sunday, Sea & Sail Day, that the Mock
Mayor - 'Mayor of The Quay' - singers, musicians and performers claim the quay |
